East Kilbride Home - 17/11/19

With the numbers boosted into the twenties, the young Bulls were out in numbers for the return matches at home against East Kilbride. Evan taking a wee knock during the warmup and Dominic unfortunately not being able to overcome illness meant we were a couple down just before kick-off. We wish them a speedy recovery and hope to see them this weekend.
Despite these last minute omissions from the squad, we had a couple of debutants who got their rugby career off to an excellent start. The feedback from the coaches were that both Ryan and Finlay made a great contribution to the game with their tackling, running and even managing a few tries. They should be really proud of their performances and hopefully they enjoyed their first match.
Having missed the majority of the matches, I’m really pleased with the feedback from John, Barry, Dougie and Craig. Also a massive thanks to Aileen who is doing a tremendous job with the admin and providing pictures for the website.
I asked the coaches their views and despite a little work needing to be done on player positioning/concentration, the overall feeling is of huge positivity. There are some worthy points listed below:
- Jack was the star of the show in the P3’s playing his best game so far – great cover tackles, support play and scored some nice tries.
- Reuban continued his form from the Kilmarnock game. A little more work on concentration will ensure he keeps improving at a steady rate.
- Tyler was extremely strong defensively and had some good runs as well. Progressing really well.
- Elliot played well and with a little more consistency, his try count will continue to grow.
- Charlotte made some great runs and tackles. Also assumed a new role trying to organise the defence which is extremely pleasing.
- Michael provided some great scores with his side steps which we have been practising and changes of direction.
- Ruaridh also managed some good scores using his evasive running skills and putting into practice what he is learning at training.
- Noah had a good game and with a little more concentration, his involvement will continue to impact the game the way he is capable of.
- In the younger game, there was some excellent debut performances/tries scored by Ryan and Findlay. Luke also contributed to the scoreboard by crossing the white line on a few occasions. Strong defensive performances, particularly by Greig and Lewis, kept East Kilbride at bay a few times. There was also a mention for Jack and Matthew who had good games in both attack and defence.
This weekend we welcome Lanark/Paisley to Hamilton. Hopefully the numbers are similar to the previous week and there are lots of happy faces at the end of the match. A couple of things for the parents:
- Thanks for your continual commitment with bringing the boys/girls down, your support has been excellent and key to building the great squad we have. It’s also very pleasing to hear the positive encouragement for all players throughout the games.
- Can you try to post the kids availability on Pitchero/Facebook so we have a rough idea of numbers for catering. It also helps us know the split of P1 to P3s before the warmup starts on a Sunday.
