Congratulations to Aidan Trim

Three Scotland U16 squads have been named ahead of the Regional Age-Grade U16 Combined tournament next week and we are delighted to announce Hamilton Bulls Aidan Trim has been selected!

The festival will be held at locations across Wales, where the Scots will play fixtures against several Welsh teams including the Ospreys, Scarlets, Dragons, Blues and RGC.

The philosophy behind the festival - which runs from 15 April to 24 April - is to enable players to develop their individual and team performance.

The Scotland U16 programme is a pivotal stage in the development of young players, with the selected home based players being split into two teams – the Reds and the Blues, and Scottish Qualified players who are residing and playing outside Scotland forming the Greens squad.

Following the festival, a home based squad will be selected to travel to a two-week summer training camp in Valladolid in Spain.

Scotland U16 Blue Head Coach, Kris Burney, has been impressed with his players’ hard work and determination during training.

He said: “The squad are excited to compete in the festival and it will conclude a selection process which started last summer for most of them.

“The matches against the Welsh Academies and Scotland Green will provide a new challenge for the players, who have worked extremely hard both on-and-off the pitch to keep improving every time they have been in camp.

“The coaching and management staff have seen a huge development in all the players over our two games against Scotland Reds and one against Newcastle Falcons U16 and look forward to working with this enthusiastic group for an extended period in Wales.”

Well Done Aiden!
