Colin Walker

Dear Hamilton Bulls Community,

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the news of the passing of our beloved friend and long-standing member, Colin Walker, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Colin’s dedication to the Hamilton Bulls was unwavering and he will be dearly missed.

Colin was a true embodiment of the spirit of our club, a kind-hearted friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

No one knew Colin better than the members of the SBSC, especially his close friend Woody. In honor of Colin’s memory, I have asked Woody to share his reflections on their time together, so that we can all remember and celebrate the incredible person Colin was.

‘ Colin never actually played for Hamilton but is one of their longest standing supporters and would happily do anything for the Club. His graphic contributions to the pitch side advertising are his most visible contributions, but he gladly supported the Club in any way possible. Who can forget his Kirkclady sign for the scoreboard!!!!

As a founding member of the SBSC as well as the creator of the legendary ID cards, Colin and his great friends could be found in the clubhouse on game days giving post-match analysis - generally bickering amongst themselves but always with good humour and friendship. He will be hugely missed by this group, especially on a Saturday at teatime as well as on the legendary SBSC Nights Out.

Despite the groups normally grumpy exterior, Colin was a warm, friendly and generous person whose family meant the world to him. He was determined to celebrate his 72nd birthday with his family on the 7th of November and was so happy to have achieved this. He sadly slipped away peacefully at home six days later. His wife Flora and children Gillian, Euan and Scott as well as the grandchildren will sadly miss him.

Hopefully the family, which is Hamilton Rugby Club, will think of Colin in the days to come and wish his family all the best at this sad time.

RIP Colin. Thinking of you. ‘

Please join me in extending our deepest condolences to Colin’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days .
