A look at how one of our former players is getting on since leaving the Bulls and settling back home overseas.

In each article, we ask the player to let us know their memories of Hamilton Rugby Club and what they are currently doing on and off the pitch...

This time we hear from Russell Coutts who played for the club between 2008 and 2010.

What are your highlights and memories of Hamilton Rugby Club?
Firstly I have to say that Hamilton is a great club and I've made some lifelong mates.
One of my favourite memories was going out with some of the Glasgow Warriors for a night on the beers. Nick Risdon, looked a little worse for wear, so we got him a straight Coke. He takes one sip and goes 'that's a strong one', not understanding that it was just a soft drink, and he then followed it up by showing us how to tackle on rubbish bins.

It was also great getting to live with some great characters like Dave, Elvis, and even Chad, I mean it and the mother of the Kiwis Huia.[/i]

What's going on at the moment on and off the field?
Back in NZ now and still playing for my club Karaka, just brought up 100 premier games for the club, married to my beautiful wife Raychil (pictured left) and have a son Boston (pictured right) with another baby on the way, life is good.

Three former Bulls keep in touch proving that the bond is strong, even after leaving the club. Nick & Melina Risdon, Jared & Huia Tuoro, along with Raychil and I catch up annually (pictured below) and have done so since we left Scotland. Nick was also the groomsman at my wedding with JT being our MC.

Thanks for the update Russell and remember that you always have a home at the Bulls.
It was fantastic to read that Karaka continued their winning run, extending their streak to four games with a 53-10 win over Waiuku. The side locked up a four-try bonus point inside the first quarter of the game and were never troubled, as they climbed to second on the ladder after Russell's 100th cap...
