P1-3 Training / Update

With the current season now well under way, I've finally learned how to upload both pictures and match reports. This is something we are hoping to continue throughout the season as its always good for the kids/parents to look back at all the action.

The first few training sessions have went as well as all the coaches could have hoped for - last years P1's have stepped comfortably up from being the newbies to being experienced players, the P3's are showing good maturity within the squad and the new P1s have been excellent so far. We have also had a few new additions to the P2 & P3 age groups and the enthusiasm/ability shown has made them blend in seamlessly to the existing players.

The current coaches (David/Craig/Barry/John) are being assisted by our U18 players Dan/Cammy who have given up their time (and maybe even busy social life) to help out. Aileen Newton has been carrying out the admin duties which involve a range of tasks to ensure the paperwork side of the team is kept up to date. There has also been rumblings of a further parent helper coming forward and hopefully this will happen over the next couple of weeks.

We owe our thanks to the parents who continue to support us in great numbers by bringing the kids down, helping with catering and ensuring that the team continues to grow and be one of the best supported at our age group. I hope this continues as its great to see so many giving encouragement from the sidelines and helping out when necessary.

Further core skills will be focussed on as the games/training keep coming. The kids have excelled so far with their tackling, the evasion skills have been covered heavily in the last couple of sessions and hopefully this weekend we will see them put this into practise with the matches against Cumnock.

Lastly, we are always looking to add to our squad and promote rugby skills/values. We try our best to ensure all kids get the same amount of game time and believe the bigger the squad we have, the more fun the games/training becomes. If you or your child have any friends/relatives wanting to give rugby a go, our development officer will assist if they contact him. If the new start is a child at P1-3 level, just bring them down on a Sunday and they can begin straight away.
