Second half of season shows a promising start.

The Bulls were back on the road with our first game of the year through to West of Scotland. Warm-up was essential, not just for game preparation, but to keep hypothermia at bay. Our first of four games was against one of the many GHA teams. Having brought their small team of only 26, they had split into three. Hamilton were led on to the pitch by Captain Aiden and the second half of the season was officially kicked off. The Bulls put up a great show against tough opposition and were looking sharp in attack. The cold weather had had an effect on fingers and the ball was being fumbled more than usual. More so from GHA than Hamilton who were able to retain possession when going forward. The game ended and we were very quickly back on the field to face our second tough GHA team. This game was much closer between the two but despite this heads went down and Hamilton defeated themselves mentally, handing a victory over to the opposition.

A short break later and we faced our hosts for the day. The Bulls were fantastic going forward and the previous game was forgotten about with a renewed spirit. Hamilton were camped well into West’s half for the entirety of the game and were playing well as a team. Communicating effectively and working hard for each other, Hamilton continued to press. On the occasions that West did gain possession the team were able to break our defence if they were given space to run on to it. Tackling was effective from close quarters, but an area we can improve upon is proper tackles against a running opponent.

We were then approached about a possibility of a further game. To the teams credit they shouted that they wanted to take to the field again before I could reply to the GHA coach. Their enthusiasm for the game and dedication they provide are what makes them the best team within the mini section. A brilliant way to close off a cold morning and the players left the field with smiles on their faces and hopefully a belief that they are good enough to face any team.

Well done everyone and thank you once again to the travelling support. We rely on your support as much as the player’s and it’s much appreciated.

After the games Captain Aidan gave this quote.

" all the boys played really well and everyone worked towards doing what the coaches asked them to do before the matches. I'm proud to play with the bulls, all the boys are really good players and they all look after each other."
