Fun at Fintry
Sun shine's at Strathendrick
On a cold but clear sunny morning, a traveling Hamilton team made their way over the hills and through border control to finally reach Fintry. No late u-turns and ground frost were going to stop this young team facing up against the hosts and two teams from Helensburgh this time. A mixture of p5/4 lined up against bigger opponents from Helensburgh for their first two games. Straight away the training from the last few weeks started to show. They played as a team and supported each other, while always looking to drive the ball forward. In all their games, Hamilton were easily the most technically gifted and held the most possession. As with their last games, their skills in offloading the ball shone through, but it was in the rucks that a new hunger was evident as they threw their bodies into challenges and defended their teammates as they recycled the ball. The game coaches for the matches were also a credit to their clubs. Allowing the game to flow and occasionally stopping play to coach the young players briefly to the benefit of their game. Thanks to the new starts that have joined Hamilton we were able to field a full team and have a few subs. Despite some of our players being very new to the game, their inexperience didn’t show and they were a credit to the team. The improvements in everyone is being noticed and the hard work and dedication that is put in during training is coming out naturally on game day. All the coaches are very proud of the young players and it is a pleasure to watch their skills that they are picking up through training drills be displayed come game day.
Thank you all for your continued support.
