Hamilton V West of Scotland
Thanks to West of Scotland for coming along today, Ryan Butcher for officiating the game and to Bilaal and Hamish from the U14s who assisted and played along with our boys.
Today started off well with an interception from Ronan Gemmell who ran the length of the park to score our only try of the game converted by David Brogan.
The coaches had been practising tackling this week at training, this was put into practice today with some success allowing the defensive line to set up and cover the field of play. This was seen throughout the match by the team holding West at times for two or three cycles of the ball before they made ground.
Offensively the boys were again seen to be trying to put into practice the training from previous sessions, fast hands and sweeping the ball out to the wing. Great to see Calum Hogan back with his turn of speed. Unfortunately West shut him down whenever he had a chance to run.
The overall score of 45 to our 4 is not a true reflection of the game which again saw improvements from all players on the park. As with previous weeks our second half was possibly our best. The team continues to gain experience and the necessary skills required to make them a rounded and developed team in the games and years ahead.
