Biggar V Hamilton
Thanks very much to Biggar for their hospitality and for providing us with a great referee on Sunday.
The team of coaches have been working on a defensive structure with the boys at previous training sessions and this was obvious as the young bulls started with a bang on fireworks day with a fantastic run down the line from the off resulting in a try for Craig Cherrie the first of many and this was converted by David Brogan.
The play then settled and it was a well matched game with the bulls ending this half up by a single point.
The work being put in by the boys at training was evident by the vocalisation being heard on the park, many a shout of guard, Shield and A being heard at the sideline, the defensive structure was maintained for the most part but was exploited on a couple of occasions to the benefit of Biggar who sneaked ahead midway through the second half.
Craig Cherrie continued his runs helped by magnificent teamwork and Christopher Lee produced a blistering run straight through the Biggar defence for a superb try.
Field goal attempts were carried out with varying degrees of success by David Brogan, Jamie Baird and Lewis Irwin which kept the bulls just ahead and with seconds to go Biggar managed to get ahead and win the match 24-18
All in all the team work, hard work, tackling, rucking, handling the ball and structure in the line was fantastic and coming together well.
Thank you Iain Simmons for this match report
