U14s V Ayr
Ayr win today at Laighbent!
Firstly thanks to Ayr for travelling through for the match, thanks to Ryan Butcher for officiating the match and to the staff at the club for catering and the U13s for serving up the food.
After five minutes Ayr pressed forward and opened the scoring with a try, they were unable to capitalise on this with a conversion. Almost immediately we replied up the outside with a try and a conversion from the wing. Ayr pressed through the middle with a try within minutes, the Bulls tackled well and held them back but they managed to score again with no conversion. Fifteen minutes into the period Ayr managed to nip through for another three tries under the posts and managed to convert on these occasions. Good rucking and tracking across the park by the boys held the game in the centre of the park for a while. Christopher Lee from the touch burst through the line and ran the park scoring under the posts...second conversion by David Brogan. Great teamwork with Gregor Peters initially creating the run through the middle, team work proved superb with the ball being passed through the hands to the opposite side of the field. Great hands by Ronan Gemmell who managed to get the ball up the park before Craig Cherrie was stripped of the ball and we were awarded a penalty. Aaron Buckley ran it through with the conversion by Gregor Peters who started the move at the middle of the park. Half time Hamilton12-18 Ayr.
Start of the second half resembled the first with an initial try from Ayr straight away. Christopher Lee ran through the middle almost untouched for the try , Ayr responded by taking advantage of Hamilton standing together as Ayr moved back from the off, tapping quick and were half way up the park before a tackle stopped them, they managed in for a try and a conversion. Christopher Lee ran through again for an equalizer, unfortunately not converted on this occasion. Ayr were quick to respond again with moves up the wing back into the middle for the unopposed tries which kept the game mainly in the Bulls half. Almost on the hour the Bulls passed the ball through the hands of most players on the team with the ball ending up with Callum Harris who went wide and turned on the speed to run one in. Ayr managed another try and conversion before the blow of the final whistle.
This was a hard game verging on the physical, the score did not reflect the game play, the teamwork , the effort or the enthusiasm displayed by the Bulls
