Highland v Hamilton 26.11.17
Perfect conditions but Highland prove to strong
Hamilton travelled to Inverness and were looking to get back to winning ways after a poor result last week. It was a perfect day for rugby with the sun sitting low and the temperature struggling to get above 6degrees and with the hosts having the luxury of a 4G pitch conditions underfoot were perfect.
Hamilton were once again slow start and Highland were quickly on the front foot putting the visitors under pressure, but such was the ferocity of tackling that the only opportunity for scores was out wide. Highland knew they had the upper hand with more athletic backs and they looked to use this advantage but Hamilton started to work more as a team and doubled up in the tackle to prevent more Highland tries.
Hamilton showed they were not there just to make up the numbers with some good strong performances, and were arguably the stronger team in the forwards which was shown with the number of scrums won against the head, and this allowed the backs to show what they could do.
Positives from the day to take forward were the rucking, tackling and support play but still need to work on our defensive line and our go forward speed.
A long day which ended up with an impromptu singalong on the bus home with the players showing their best chance of stardom is rugby.
