Biggar v Hamilton 5/11/17
Fireworks at local derby
Hamilton travelled to Lanarkshire rivals Biggar knowing that they would be in for a difficult game and the hosts certainly made life difficult for the young Bulls who had 12 players unavailable due to a sickness bug.
Biggar had a far stronger team than earlier in the season and this showed when their Nos 8, who was to prove a tough tackler and ball carrier throughout the game, ran in far the first try of the game.
The forward pack of Hamilton started to control the game with Finlay MacRitchie
, Aaron Burgees, Cameron MacLaren and Lewis Mooney
all making yards every time they had possession of the ball which gave the back line space to exploit. Biiggar continued to press forward but were ultimately stopped short of the line by ferocious Hamilton defence.
The strength of Hamilton's forward pack paid off and they dominated the remainder of the half scoring 4 tries and 2 conversions to lead at half time 4-14.
Hamilton started the second half in the same way they had finished the first and were soon over the line again for their 5th and what was to be final try. Biggar were far from beaten and stormed back into the game scoring 3 tries without response from Hamilton who's forward pack were tiring having played the full match.
A superb game of rugby from two teams who gave their all, and were kept in line by the referee.
