'Gopher dinner' they said. Gordon (Gopher) Lindsay is invited to SRU Annual Club Awards Dinner as March's SRU Club Volunteer of the month.

It is fantastic to have committed members of the club that are prepared go the extra mile to drive the club forward. Gordon is certainly one of those Club gems

It was announced in late April that Gordon Lindsay was The SRU's Club Volunteer of the month for March. As a result of this, Gordon and a table of guests are invited to the SRU's annual club awards dinner on the 2nd June. Everyone from Hamilton Rugby Club will be hoping that Gordon is in with a chance of winning the annual award for season 2016/17.

Back in April Gordon was delighted to hear that he had been selected as the winner of the SRU volunteer of the month for March. Although Gordon was surprised, this was no surprise to many at Hamilton who witnesses what Gordon does around the Club.

The Player and Team manager
As well as regularly playing in games on a Saturday for the 3s and the Bentlaigh Bulls, Gordon is usually involved in ensuring that these games are well organised and acts as team manager as well.

The Coach
Back in September Gordon was asked to help the Hamilton Ladies with the coaching of touch rugby on a Wednesday. This has grown from the initial ten or so players that turned up to give rugby a go. Gordon now coaches up to 26 players, some of whom are now about to venture into Hamilton Rugby Club's first ladies contact game in over twenty years, playing at Biggar RFC 7s on the 27th of June. Not only have the ladies found enjoyment in the training, but they now enjoy all the attributes of being part of a team by attending international fixtures as to support the Scottish Ladies team. Gordon has been instrumental in helping to organise these events to ensure the success of the squad.

The Ambassador
It would have been easy for Gordon to sit back and think that he was doing enough for the Club but but when he heard that Hamilton was to be one of the SRU's twenty Tartan Touch Hubs, Gordon recognised that there was a logical connection to the work he had been involved in, with the Ladies team. Once again he stepped up and offered his help by volunteering to be one of the club's Tartan Touch Ambassadors. As a result of this, he even featured in the SRU press launch last week, further enhancing Hamilton's profile within Scottish rugby. Hamilton Rugby Club is now the leading club in the country for pre-registered players for the launch of Tartan touch on the 21st of June. Everyone is welcome to get involved for more information get in touch with out support team via tartantouch@hamiltonrugbyclub.co.uk.

Everyone at Hamilton congratulates Gordon on his award for March and are wishing Gordon a great night at BT Murrayfield. While we will be keeping our fingers crossed that all his efforts for our Club are recognised further we can be content that we are the true winners, having Gordon as one of the gems in the Hamilton Crown.
Well done Gordon
