Head coach David Gemmell shares his match day thoughts

Tennents National 1 has seen points aplenty already this season with all teams capable of winning on their day. So what does today’s away fixture at Musselburgh hold for us?

Whilst they are coming off the back of a 50+ points showing in their great win at gala, our Bulls squad are dead keen to make up for last week’s disappointment when we allowed Jed pressure to influence our demeanour and level of play.

We seek more urgency & improved consistency in our play. When we have the ball our pace of play means we are dangerous - however we are not looking after the ball as well as we might. We need to show further patience, both in attack - to play possession phase after phase, building pressure confidently until an opportunity appears - and in defence, where we need to organise, hit & reorganise time & time again until we pressurise a turnover.

Possession, patience and pressure, keys to success.

The front row of Taz McLaughlin, Grant McCowan and Greg Richardson are reselected with Scott Leggate and Ross McQueen in reserve. Jordan McLean has played his way into the starting team paired with Jack Bruce in the middle row. Gregor Brodie, Scott White and Robert Brown combine in the back row with Josh White sure to be involved from the bench.

Owen McLeish has recovered from illness to partner Hugo Crush at half back. Skipper Mark Wallace and Ross Jamieson again form the midfield with Ben Plant and Craig Skilling on wings. Andy Wilson moves back into the 15 jersey. Stevie Turnbull and Russell Virtue are ready from the sidelines.

Bulls Toos anticipate a tough encounter at Hawick - lots to savour after last Saturday’s thrilling “last play of the game” victory over Boroughmuir.

1927 are at Allan glens with a strong looking squad whilst u18s entertain highland at Laigh bent.

Go well all Bulls in action today.
