Head coach David Gemmell shares his match day thoughts

Our Tennent's National 1 challenge this Saturday against Cartha QP is to build upon last week’s composed performance against Selkirk.

I was pleased that we always appeared comfortable against Selkirk , mainly because we controlled possession and made far fewer enforced errors. Defence was certainly more effective, our organisation better and low chops to the fore. More of the same today please!

I have been particularly pleased with the impact players have made when introduced to the game, hence a couple of changes up front in the forwards.

Taz McLaughlin & Ross McQueen start with Darren Carr at tight head this time, with Greg Richardson a very able replacement. Josh White and Gareth Jones are again in tandem in the second row. A change in our back row however with Grant McCowan selected at 6 partnering Robert Brown and Scott Alexander. Gregor Brodie takes a bench place this week alongside Charlie Craig.

A familiar looking starting back line with Hugo Crush, Owen McLeish, Mark Wallace, Craig Inglis, Craig Skilling and Ethan Aitken all retaining their places. Neil Kennedy gets his first league start at 11 replacing Ben Plant after debuting off the bench last week. Stevie Turnbull and Ross Jamieson provide a wealth of experience from the bench.

Other Bulls teams in action are as follows:
2nd XV at home against Heriots
1927 away to Glasgow Accies
U18 entertain Perthshire at home
Youth rugby against Perthshire is on Sunday.

Watch for a certain 'joie de vivre' from your Bulls XVs today, with no less than 4 new Bulls showcasing their skill sets & experience from French rugby today.

Good luck to all Bulls teams in action this weekend. Go along and cheer the guys on, support really does make a difference. Hope to see you later!

A last word on the passing of my very first rugby coach and inspiration at Hamilton, Duncan Ryan. Ever a character and straight to the point, Duncan will be remembered fondly by many of the Bulls family and throughout the wider rugby community. Rest easy Duncan.
