Head coach David Gemmell shares his match day thoughts

It’s getting to the sharp end of the season and the competition for places is making selection really tough.

With no game for the Toos, who last Saturday finished their league campaign with a terrific comeback win over Stirling County, the plain truth was there would be no game for he guys who narrowly missed out on 1st XV selection.

As I’ve said before, selection decisions have to be consistent and based on the current situation as a coach sees it.

Tough choices made and players’ disappointments ringing in my ears, I feel the 19 below are the right combination to meet the challenge Lasswade will pose on Saturday.

Having performed poorly in the fixture at Lasswade in November, the guys will be doubly desperate to show just how well we can play as a team, continue our recent winning sequence and keep our push for promotion on track...

Taz McLaughlin returns to loose head beside Ross McQueen and Darren Carr, with Scott Leggate taking the replacement role this week.

Following a barnstorming impact from the bench last weekend, Josh White starts in the second row bedside the evergreen lineout master Richard Maxton. Gregor Brodie, Rab Brown and Frazer Dunnachie will look to win the battle for ball domination between opposing back rows. Scott Alexander and Charlie Craig will be desperate to prove their worth when involved.

With Owen McLeish rested to allow recovery from a stubborn chest infection, Andy Wilson will partner Hugo Crush at half back. Skipper Mark Wallace returns to combine in a tough as teak midfield alongside James Howatson. Inglis brothers Ross and Craig are on the wins with Ross Jamieson at full back. Stevie Turnbull is welcomed back to the squad to provide cover.

To those who didn’t gain the place they wanted, stay positive and keep working hard to develop your game.

To you guys who get to play, I congratulate you and look forward to watching you give your best for the Bulls.

Good luck also to 1927 whose league game is a top of the table clash against Cartha - exciting times indeed!

Wishing all Bulls well this Easter Weekend - enjoy your rugby!
See you at Laigh bent!
