BT Murrayfield welcomes Bulls

The Scotland boys dug deep on Sunday to eventually get over the line against the French. It was a tense and exciting match, which saw fans on the edge of their seats. For a few Hamilton Bulls, it will be a day remembered for far more than the thrilling yet narrow victory.

Cameron Ritchie, a member of our P6 squad was a match-day mascot at BT Murrayfield. Cameron was featured in the match programme with his favourite Scotland player being Stuart Hogg and sending a good luck message of:-

"Best of luck to all of the squad today. C'mon guys make Scotland proud!"

We caught up with Cameron about his day.

"My day at Murrayfield as a mascot was an absolutely brilliant day! The whole experience was amazing from running onto the pitch and singing the national anthem, to meeting the players and getting their autographs.

A highlight of my day was sitting next to Gordon Reid who lifted me out of my seat at the end of the game and also gave me some of his kit. Another highlight was having my picture taken with Jonny Gray, a former Hamilton 1XV player who told me he always has time for the Bulls!

Thank you to the SRU and Hamilton Rugby Club for making this once in a lifetime opportunity possible."

That's not all...members of our Ladies team where there too!

Three of our ladies, Jess Lightbody, Laura Dempster and Sam Smith were rewarded for their participation in the SRU grassroots publicity campaigns by taking up the honour of flag bearing at the game. With an additional last minute spot opening up, the ladies immediately nominated Kirsty Allan, ladies team player of the month, to take up the role. All four ladies held their chins high and their grins wide as they marched proudly onto the pitch in front of a sell-out crowd at Murrayfield. Holding back tears the ladies experience of standing on the pitch in front of over 67000 fans as the national anthem was sang was something they will never forget.

The girls also welcomed Hamilton Bulls, Gillian Lee and Sharon Allardyce as their guests for the day. The experience was enhanced with hospitality, entertainment and a surprise visit to the team changing rooms pre match. The ladies were also welcomed to a Q&A session with 2 of the players after the match.

Everyone at Hamilton Rugby Club congratulate Cameron, Jess, Laura, Sam, Kirsty, Gillian and Sharon for representing Hamilton Bulls at Scottish Rugby HQ!
