Giving our youth players a voice!

Hamilton Rugby Club are delighted to announce Andrew Crawford (centre) as our ‘Youth Player Representative’. The new role will be aligned to the clubs’ Youth Committee and Andrew will help identify strengths and areas of development at the club to better support its demographic.

Andrew is a highly active and motivated individual, currently playing with the Under 18 squad. He has been heavily involved across a number of other sports and sporting clubs in South Lanarkshire.

Andrew Crawford said, “I am delighted to be supporting my club and working with them to focus on youth player development. Giving all age groups a voice at committee, it is a great opportunity for players to express their opinions and improve our club for the future.”

Andrews’ commitment to sport has continued over the last two seasons with his involvement in Mini Rugby, he now supports the club’s coaches and players in their future developments. This new role will further enhance the services provided by Hamilton Rugby Club and give the players a peer that can resolve or support any area of the game.

David Vickers (left), Youth Convenor said, “It is great to have Andrew sitting on our committee to help shape Hamilton Rugby Club for the future and give potential future volunteers a voice.” He went onto say, “Hamilton Rugby Club are focused on creating a sustainable community club where everyone has a voice, the addition of Andrew to our structure will further improve Hamilton Rugby Club commitment to progression.”

Having played since he could walk and representing Hamilton Rugby Club from the age of 5, Andrew is a respected player amongst his peers and an ideal candidate for the new role. As part of Andrew’s new role, he will support the clubs’ community work and taking a lead on all rugby activity in Hamilton Grammar.

Alan Falconer (right), Development Officer said, “I have worked with Andrew for the last 7 seasons and his commitment to his own development and the progression of the club has been excellent. He is a real credit to Hamilton Rugby Club and the youth development programme, this addition to the club structure shows the clubs continued commitment to improve the service we offer to our community and improving the game of Rugby in Scotland.”

Andrew will sit on the club’s youth committee advising on all playing affairs, helping the committee shape the club and to better reflect its ever growing youth membership. The role will be held by an active youth player and appointed at the start of each new season, if you would like to be considered for the role of “Youth Player Representative” for season 2019/20 please inform your coach.
