The last two Saturdays has seen the Under 18s clock up back to back wins in the SRU’s National Under 18 League. While the skills have definitely grown over the weeks in this top league, a combination of a difficult start against four of the top five teams in the league and a couple of games that just slipped away through lack of experience has seen the Young Bulls stuck near the bottom of the table and in fact at one point sitting bottom of the 15 team league.
The resolve that these young players have shown and the belief that they were better than their results suggested, has kept them training hard and growing as players. The last two games has been their reward for all that effort and the grit and determination they have shown against Royal High School and GHA has earned them two great results against two teams above them in the league. The result on Saturday against GHA, beating them 24-12, is put in perspective by the fact that the exact same GHA team beat Boroughmuir 36-3 the previous week, a Boroughmuir team that beat Hamilton 29-0 earlier in the season.
