Horror Injury Ends Game Early, As Hamilton Lead 24-5!
A freak injury to Cartha’s inside centre, Wayne Burrows, resulted in the match being abandoned as the Bulls led comfortably 24-5. With Cartha unable to continue the match was abandoned with the Cartha coach conceding the game. From hospital, it was later confirmed as a serious ankle dislocation and fracture. Everyone at Hamilton sends Wayne their best wishes for a speedy recovery and we hope to see him on the pitch again next season.
Prior to this incident, the large home support was enjoying an entertaining match with Hamilton controlling proceedings nicely after an early score from the visitors shocked the Bulls into action.
Hamilton managed three tries in the time that was played, two coming from Whitelaw on the wing, who finished both well with some strong running and one from Inglis at centre when he managed to stretch over for the try after stepping inside the defence. McLeish added to his growing points tally for the season with three successful conversions and a penalty.
The outcome of the match has yet to be determined and will no doubt go the SRU panel before a decision is officially made.
Elsewhere the Hamilton 2nd XV sit proudly at the top of their league after an emphatic 53-5 victory over Cartha 2nds. The tries were enjoyed by new signing Pete Januszewski, the returning Grant McCowan and a hat-trick each for Gareth Payne & Chris Stannage with Adam Ryan managing four conversions.
This week the 1st XV travel to Ardrossan looking to keep their impressive run of form up with another win, as they push to the top of the summit of the National League.
